Files ending in ".save.evf.gz" are bundled files; here are instructions on how to unbundle them. IMPORTANT: Be sure to transfer bundled files to your system in "binary" mode! They will get corrupted if you transfer them in "ascii" mode.

Building Samba

You need both the Samba source code file and the samba-build file (see above). Detailed instructions are in the README.txt file in the samba-build file.

Building GNU C/C++ and GNU Tools

This product has been bootstrapped thru itelf, so you cannot build it without having a copy of its executables already loaded and available.

Building OpenSSL/OpenSSH and Internet Security Pack

Complete instructions for rebuilding the product from its source code are included with the VOS OpenSSL and OpenSSH (or ISP) Software Release Bulletin.

Building Subversion 1.6

To build Subversion 1.6, you need OpenVOS Release 17.0.2 (or later), GNU Tools 3.4.0, OpenSSL/SSH 2.0.0 and the C Runtime product. Create a new subdirectory (say, "work_dir"). Within this directory, create directories named "subversion.1.6" and "subversion.1.6.p4be". Unbundle the subversion-1.6.save.evf.gz file into the subversion-1.6 directory. Copy the file vmake.pm (found at ftp://ftp.stratus.com/pub/vos/tools/stratus_make.save.evf.gz) into work_dir>subversion.1.6>bin. Change into the subversion.1.6 subdir and type "go -build_type user". The derived files will be placed in the subversion.1.6.p4be subtree.

Building Subversion 2.0

To build Subversion 2.0, you need OpenVOS Release 17.1.0 (or later), GNU Tools 3.5.0, OpenSSL/SSH 2.1.0 and the C/POSIX Runtime product. Create a new subdirectory (say, "work_dir"). Within this directory, create directories named "subversion.2.0" and "subversion.2.0.p4be". Unbundle the subversion-2.0.save.evf.gz file into the subversion-2.0 directory. Copy the file vmake.pm (found at ftp://ftp.stratus.com/pub/vos/tools/stratus_make.save.evf.gz) into work_dir>subversion.2.0>bin. Change into the subversion.2.0 subdir and type "go -build_type user". The derived files will be placed in the subversion.2.0.p4be subtree.

Building Subversion 3.0

To build Subversion 3.0, you need OpenVOS Release 17.2.0 (or later), GNU Tools 4.0.0, OpenSSL/SSH 2.1.0 and the C/POSIX Runtime product. Create a new subdirectory (say, "work_dir"). Within this directory, create directories named "subversion.3.0" and "subversion.3.0.p4be". Unbundle the subversion-3.0.save.evf.gz file into the subversion-3.0 directory. Copy the file vmake.pm (found at ftp://ftp.stratus.com/pub/vos/tools/stratus_make.save.evf.gz) into work_dir>subversion.3.0>bin. Change into the subversion.3.0 subdir and type "go -build_type user". The derived files will be placed in the subversion.3.0.p4be subtree.
